About James Abron Download: Professional Bio
I enjoy tutoring and helping students achieve. I have taught at all levels - university, community college, and most recently in charter high, middle and elementary schools. These experiences have given me the ability to adjust my teaching methods and approach to the specific needs of each age group and skill level.
My Approach to Tutoring:
Build trust in me and confidence in yourself. You are unique. We will discover your strengths and build from there. Tutoring is a private matter. I want to be your "secret weapon" to help you slay those math and science demons. I want you to believe in yourself. Education is a life-long journey. I want you to enjoy the journey. The National Tutoring Association Code of Ethics is my professional guide for interactions between my students and clients.
My Background:
I am certified to tutor Elementary K-6, Study Skills, Career Development, Elementary Science, Physical Science, Elementary Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus and Calculus, ACT Math, Science, English & Reading, SAT Math & Reading, and the PSAT.
I am a retired civil engineer. My B.S. is from Purdue University. I have a M.B.A. from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA. In addition to several licenses and certifications in engineering, I hold a life-time California Community College Instructor credential in six subject areas. I am a Certified Professional Coach - my credential is from the Strategic Learning Alliance which is affiliated with Portland State University.
As a professional member of the National Tutoring Association (NTA), I strive to stay current within my profession. I am certified as a Master Tutor and Advanced Academic Coach by the NTA.
My hobbies are ham radio, coin collecting and astronomy. I'm married with two daughters, both graduates of Michigan State University.
